The annual architecture party organized by third year students at the Carleton School of Architecture in Canada. This year the organizers invited other faculties to join the installation making fun. The dead trees were made by Industrial Design students, and the dead car was made by Engineers. :) Practically everything was constructed the 1.5 days before the...

usualchatter asked: You know those pesky "Educational Version" watermarks Autocad/Revit place on their drawings? If you export them as PDF's and open them in illustrator, you can delete those! Also, you can use the LivePaint tool to quickly poche your walls. Makes those plans look so much better!

starsatdawn asked: i am an architecture student too on 1st year 2nd semester.. I am just wondering what materials do you use in model making? and do you have any tips or advice on how can i be good at drawing isometric/perspective dwgs? I really suck at it and failed that unit. I love your blog :)

Anonymous asked: what are the different types of architecture? What about architecture vs. architectural engineering?

kwhynot asked: Okay, I need your help with understanding this assignment. Basically, what we're required to do is to identify a design and talk about it in terms of spatial psychology. Now, I have an intuitive feel of what I'm meant to do- as in, I identified the designs, I'm going to merge them, I know which characteristics appeal to psychology, I even have the interior design down. Problem is, I...

ahoboandhisbox asked: in response to the illustrator/cad exporting question- you can export an illustrator file as an autocad dwg, i believe it retains its layers, though you may need to scale it. as for autocad drawings, you can actually open them in illustrator withou exporting them, just use the "open with" command. they tought us how to here at pratt, but i never do it so sorry my answer is kinda vague

onefourtwothree asked: I've seen a few people ask questions and you've posted them so people can answer, was wondering if you could give me a hand? Does anyone know (or can link a tutorial explaining) how to export autoCAD drawings to Illustrator and import them back, while maintaining scale, layers, linetypes, etc? Method I'm using must be wrong as my geometry is splitting into single lines instead of...

ramarq asked: hello! for your project, which software did you use for?
kwhynot asked: This applies to ALL projects in ALL majors. Business, Visual Communications, Theatrical Arts…Comments like:“This sucks” “I don’t understand what this is, you’re giving me nothing to talk about.” “Do you know nothing about (verb)?”“Just…stop. You can’t follow through with this idea, it’s stupid- just go do what I told...
kwhynot asked: (continued)... stupid, that maybe we're onto something. Maybe consider the fact that our idea has potential, and we're onto something that requires development. Maybe look at it with an actual 'critical' eye and extract the concept of the work and see how it can be improved upon. In fact, not giving proper criticism and feeding us these half-assed responses harms you (the...

Anonymous asked: I found your blog and I fell in love with it straight away. I'm studying architecture too but still in the first year. However some of your posts are related and accurate to what I've been going through, despite I've only been starting my course few months ago. Can I just ask, what makes you stay awake while you're doing your work at night? Because I'm struggling to stay...

aperturevicky asked: Hey this is a question to Cornell University students :) I would like to transfer there when I am done with my two years, and would like to know what to expect. So if anyone who is attending Cornell's Arch program could answer the following questions, it'd be awesome and extremely helpful! 1.- what did you predominantly show in your portfolio, architecture work, or unrelated pictures to...
